Tracy Chapman
Secretary
Tracy Chapman is a mother, wife, and educator. She is the proud mother of two amazing young women, Lauren and Lindsey. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Bishop College in Dallas, Texas and a master’s from Marygrove College.
Tracy breastfed both of her daughters. She found doing it to be gratifying and nurturing for both her and her children, but found it to be very challenging. She believes organizations like Black Mothers’ Breastfeeding Association (BMBFA) are so very important to supporting women in their breastfeeding journeys.
She was able to witness the growth of BMBFA over the years through her friendship with the organization’s founder, Kiddada Green. Tracy now serves as BMBFA’s secretary. She is passionate about education and has worked in the field for over twenty years.
She is a first-grade teacher in the Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD). Tracy and her husband are lifelong Detroiters.
Tracy is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Detroit Alumnae Chapter.
