Kymaletha Brown, a clinical mental health therapist, hypnobirthing educator, certified labor and birth doula, placenta encapsulation specialist, breastfeeding peer counselor and owner of The Great Divine Center on Detroit’s East side. I opened the center to provide the community with a woman’s wraparound health care space with an emphasis on mental health. The center offers a variety of services including community resources, free access to baby items (diapers, wipes, clothes, pack and plays), pregnancy and postpartum support, dance, yoga and meditation classes. The center is the home to Goddess Great (nonprofit), through which I run programs for pregnant women and children. Through our nonprofit we provide families with necessary baby supplies and support to get them off to a great start. We also have a children’s play room on site for women to receive services while their children have a safe place to play. I have a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Bachelor’s Degree in Human and Community Services, two Associate’s Degrees and a range of certifications. I have a 5 year old son who is my inspiration, without him none of this would even be possible, God gave me purpose when he gave me Kanaan (son).
