Dr. Elizabeth Lowenthal, MD, MSCE

Dr. Lowenthal is a pediatrician and epidemiologist at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. Her clinical work and research are focused primarily on children affected by HIV. Before she moved to Philadelphia in 2008, she lived and worked in Botswana for 4 years where she was the clinic director for a large pediatric and adolescent-focused HIV clinic. She tries to support families in ways that are sensitive to their personal and cultural values and she has been committed to helping women living with HIV who want to breastfeed their infants to do so safely.
