Shanayl Bennett
Mothering Justice
Shanayl is a Birth Worker and mom of 3 from the Eastside of Detroit, MI. She has a background in Community Health Work, Family Planning, Fertility Advocacy, Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness, and Lactation Counseling. Currently, she has the role as the Black Maternal Health and Reproductive Justice Organizer at Mothering Justice, a national non profit organization that is committed to centering the voices of mothers of color and giving them tools to make equitable changes around policy for themselves and their families. Shanayl is an advisory board member for The Detroit Perinatal Wellness Coalition and The Michigan Chamber for Reproductive Justice, which hopes to be the most comprehensive reproductive justice organization in Michigan. Recently she has had the honor of joining the Western Wayne County NAACP WIN Committee -WIN meaning Women In NAACP. Shanayl is hoping to use her personal and professional experience to become a change agent in the community around access to quality care in the maternal health space.
