Cicely Allen is a racial equity and social justice advocate who is using her administrative expertise as the program coordinator at Black Mothers’ Breastfeeding Association (BMBFA). She left the insurance industry in 2018 and began to work with multiple non-profit organizations providing support to underprivileged communities. In 2020, she joined BMBFA where she co-manages programmatic initiatives with special concentration on the Community-based Doula Program. She is also an advisory committee member for both The Birth and Breastfeeding Leadership Institute at BMBFA and the BMBFA B’Right Hub. Cicely is a graduate of Henry Ford College and in 2020 she became a Detroit Equity Action Lab, Racial Equity Fellow. In 2021 she went on to join the Transforming Power Fund, Giving Project Cohort and Detroit Public Schools Community District Montessori Program Review Committee.
Cicely is a proud Detroiter where she resides with her husband and their two children. Her passion to advocate for Black breastfeeding Mamas developed from her own gratifying breastfeeding experiences with both of her children.
