Shanita Fort is a mother, trained doula, project manager and artist. She earned her Bachelors of Arts degree in Business Management in May 2016 from Augusta University. Since graduation, she has moved into project management and become a trained doula.
She is the board member at-large of Black Mothers’ Breastfeeding Association (BMBFA). Shanita is a huge advocate about breastfeeding and the health benefits to not only the child but the mother. Shanita provides lactation support to her doula clients as well as women in the community. She is an active member of a breastfeeding support group in the Augusta community. Her main goal is to help breastfeeding families achieve their feeding goals. She believes that breastfeeding self-efficacy is key to breastfeeding success. As a multi-year breastfeeding mother and doula, Shanita has first-hand knowledge regarding breastfeeding and its challenges.
