General Purpose
The Program Manager for Black Mothers’ Breastfeeding Association (BMBFA) provides administrative and operational oversight to the virtual and community-based programs including Black Mothers Breastfeeding Club and Community-based Doula Programs.

BMBFA’s mission is to reduce racial inequities in breastfeeding support for Black families. BMBFA optimizes the first food experience through direct service training and advocacy.

About Black Mothers’ Breastfeeding Club
BMBFA’s signature work, Black Mothers’ Breastfeeding Club® is a community-centered, mother-led breastfeeding group. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers come together for fellowship, sisterhood, parenting and breastfeeding support. BMBFC has run without interruption since 2008.
About Community-based Doula Program
BMBFA’s Community-based Doula Program is a HealthConnect One accredited training and service program. BMBFA’s Community-based Doula School is licensed by the State of MI Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.
Job Summary
- Supervise home visiting staff
- Oversee the planning and facilitation of the local Community-based Doula Taskforce
- Coordinate focus groups, community conversations and listening sessions
- Conduct a Community-based Doula SWOT Analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats)
- Manage Community-based Doula training program
- Plan and execute Community-based Doula Summit
- Contribute to the grant writing team
- Utilize tools or design systems and processes to track data and monitor progress and create monthly/quarterly reports for programs
- Build and sustain meaningful relationships with key stakeholders and community partners
- Work with cross-functional teams in planning and execution of programs
- Serve as a member of field-related advisory and/or ad-hoc committees; or similar
- Sustain consistent communication’s plan (thought leadership, content calendar, traditional/social media, web calendar, mass text)
- Attend educational workshops, conferences and trainings for professional development and career growth
- Other related duties as assigned by administration
Education and Experience
- 2-5 years experience in a related field
- Experience in program management, coordination or equivalent
- Minimum B.A. in related field (advocacy and social justice, community organizing and advocacy, public health, african american/women studies, social work, anthropology, communications, public administration, public policy, healthcare administration, non-profit management, or similar)
- Deep understanding of the principles of racial equity/justice
- Deep understanding of community-centered approach
- Experience supervising staff, preferred
